Abstract
7 patients presented to the Neuro-ophthalmology OPD with blurring in the central field of vision.3(42.8 %) had photopsia.2(28.5%) of these patients had a history of viral fever with arthritis.6(85.7%)presented with normal vision.Funduscopy was grossly normal in 5(71.4)% of the patients.2(28.5%) patients had RPE alterations.Visual field analysis revealed enlarged blind spot, central scotoma, centrocecal scotoma, para central ring defects, nasal hemifield defects.OCT revealed cystoid changes, hyper reflectivity in the middle layer of retina, hyper reflective dots in choroid and myoid ellipsoid zone disruption.4 patients were diagnosed as AZOOR,2 as PAMM and 1 as MEWDS.When a patient presents with blurred vision and suspected neurological field defects, one must also keep in mind white dot syndromes like MEWDS ,AZOOR and PAMM as seen in our patients. They are characterized by traces of vitreous cells, altered retinal layer changes with a striking predilection for the peripapillary retina.
