Abstract
Eyelid defects are encountered in congenital anomalies (lid coloboma), trauma, and post-excision for neoplasm. Hence, while performing a reconstructive surgery, both functional and cosmetic aspects are considered. Full thickness skin graft (FTSG) has been widely used in this regard due to its easy availability, minimal donor site morbidity and excellent graft survival rate and cosmesis. Common donor sites for FTSG are supraclavicular, inner brachial, postauricular and periocular. However, the donor site largely depends on extent and location of the eyelid defect and Surgeon’s preference. The most common complications with FTSG are skin pigmentation and graft contraction. In this case we describe how to perform skin grafting successfully using posterior auricular skin graft for upper lid reconstruction in a case of trauma.
