Abstract

Aim: To analyse the results of Monovision cataract surgery in various category of patients and to make recommendations for the same Methods: A series of 50 cases of Monovision cataract surgery was performed and results were analysed retrospectively in terms of age, preop refractive error and astigmatism, dominance, comorbidities, occupation, postop visual acuity, stereopsis, diplopia and neuro adaptations. Results: The refractive results were analysed for different category of patients with the help of multivariate analysis. It was found that the residual refractive error to be kept in order to achieve unaided normal vision varies with patient characteristics and certain modifications had to be made accordingly in calculating IOL power.

Conclusion: Thus with these recommendations one can decide the IOL power to be used in each eye to achieve uncorrected normal binocular visual acuity with good stereopsis in various types of patients coming for monovison monofocal cataract surgery.
