Abstract
A 23-year old girl presented with unilateral tarsal lower lid ectropion due to inflamed hypertrophied keratinised conjunctiva. The fold of hypertrophied conjunctiva mechanically shifting the tarsus away from the eyeball resulting in ectropion. Initial trial of treatment with topical steroid eye drops and topical antibiotic ointment and drops was given but there was no benefit. Once the inflammation was controlled, she underwent medial canthal plication with good immediate postoperative result. 5 months later, she re-presented with a recurrence of the mechanical ectropion for which excision of the hypertrophied keratinized conjunctiva along with end to end closure was done. Immediate post-operative result was excellent. Photographic evidence of the same is provided.
