Abstract
Aims: To study ocular manifestations in cases of Road Traffic Accidents, to establish the nature and severity of injury,to know about the visual prognosis in relation to ocular injuries.
Settings and Design:Cross-sectional study.
Materials and Methods: All pts of RTA between the age of 5to75 yrs were studied. Demographic data , mode of injury, best corrected visual acuity, fundoscopic findings, radiological examination findings were noted. Results: 93 patients i.e.31% were in the age group 21-30yrs.Lid edema & ecchymosis 48.67%,CLW of eyebrow 32.33% & Lid 7.67%,suconjunctival haemorrhage 27.33%,traumatic optic neuropathy 8.67%,cranial nerve palsy 5%,hyphaema 3%,cataract 1.33%,orbital # 3.33%.
Conclusions: Young males were affected.Lid edema & ecchymosis commonly seen.Most number of RTA’s were common to two wheelers. Keywords: RTA,black eye, #.
