FP0818 : Safety profile of health care providers while operating emergency ocular trauma during lockdown

Abstract
In early 2020,WHO declared the outbreak of the disease COVID-19, as a global pandemic.Government of India declared a total lockdown across the country .We noted an increased incidence of ocular trauma patients requiring urgent surgery in our government tertiary eye care during 9 weeks of lockdown .We operated 07 eyes of penetrating ocular trauma .All the eyes underwent COVID-19 testing on hospital admission as per the guidelines.Primary corneoscleral tear repairs were done in all eyes.We observed and still observing till date all the operated patients, surgeon and the involved hospital staff for the next one month ,for any symptoms of COVID .Postoperative good anatomical outcome was seen in all 7 eyes.Most of the injuries were preventable.Till date ,no symptoms of COVID-19 reported in all health care providers .If the patients are being tested and confirmed negative for COVID-19 ,the patients can be taken up for surgery to salvage these eyes to the best possible extent.
