Abstract
Methods:It was hospital-based study in which 103 patients were enrolled who were below 19 years of age. Paediatric cases attended during emergency underwent visual acuity, slit lamp examination, fundus examination and routine investigation.
Results:Around 77 patients were male and rest females. The age of patients ranged from 5 years to 18 years.Most of eye injuries resulted during play with home being most common place of injury. A favorable visual outcome was noted with closed globe injuries. Final visual acuity of 6/12 or better was observed in 68% of injured eyes.
Conclusion:Most eye injuries in children are preventable so this reflects the importance of health education, adult supervision and application of appropriate measures that is necessary for reducing the incidence and severity of trauma.
