Abstract
Aim:To study the clinical profile and prognostic factors among ocular trauma patients.
Methodology-Prospective data regarding patients of ocular trauma was collected and analysed .The demographics , type of intervention and final visual outcome assessed.
Results: A total of 217 eyes of 212 patients were evaluated , and out of them 158 were male and 54 were females. The age of patients ranged from 6 month to 68 years with mean age 28.53 years. 137 patients had open globe injury and 75 had closed globe injury. Road traffic accident was most common (n=107,50.50%) mode of injury followed by wood.
Conclusion: Accurate assessment is mandatory in all cases of trauma. Protective gears are essential in preventing and reducing the severity of damage.
