Abstract
Purpose: The purpose is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the micro-pulse transscleral diode laser
Methods: It is a prospective interventional study where 55 eyes of 55 patients were treated by a single surgeon with Micropulse diode laser. Each subject was treated with laser settings according to recommended current treatment guidelines. Results: At baseline, patients were on an average of 2.9 topical glaucoma medications with an average IOP of 30.46 mmHg. At one week IOP was reduced by 50.6%, at one month by 44.3% and at 3 months by 42.2%. Average medication use decreased from 2.9 to 2.1 from baseline to final post op visit. There were no serious adverse events. Conclusion: Micropulse transcleral diode laser is safe and effective for medically uncontrolled glaucoma. Patients can expect significant IOP lowering along with reduction in number of topical medications required for control of IOP. It can be considered a safer option to incisional surgery in eyes with PACG.
