Abstract

Endophthalmitis is the most dreaded complication of any intraocular surgery. This course is designed to give latest strategies regarding the practical approach of prevention, diagnosis and management (both medical & surgical) of endophthalmitis. Recent guidelines on pre and post operative protocols, OT ethics & layout, sterilization techniques and relevance of current NABH regulations will be highlighted. Clinical methods to identify endophthalmitis & differentiate it from TASS will be dealt via case based approach. Intravitreal injection technique, drugs & their doses with emphasis on newer antibiotics will be highlighted. Handouts with take home messages including OR checklist, guidelines & drug dosages will be given. This course targets all general ophthalmologists & practising VR surgeons.
