Abstract
Management of pterygium is essentially surgical. Surgical procedures over the centuries have evolved into excision combined with either bare sclera, use of accessories like MMC, or conjunctival grafting. Conjunctival autografting is currently the most accepted procedure for both primary and recurrent pterygia. It has a low recurrence rate, good cosmesis and no fatal complications. This video assisted course will demonstrate the variations of autografts like limbal (CLAG), free (CAG), rotational (CRAG), sliding, etc. with sutures, fibrin glue or autoblood fixation. It also describes the use of MMC, AMT and the novel SLET technique in difficult situations. Management of intra and postoperative complications are explained. At the end of the course, the attendee will be able to reproduce the management techniques of different methods of simple as well as complex pterygium cases.
