Dr. MURALIDHAR RAJAMANI (R10440)
Abstract
The course starts with an introduction to an evaluation of the preoperative factors that would have a direct bearing on the outcome. Included are identification of accomodative factors, proximal convergence, and recognizing complex strabismus like situational restriction, heavy eye syndrome, sagging eye syndrome to name a few. A simplified guide to conventional surgery on the horizontal recti follows. Surgery on the oblique muscles comes up next amply illustrated with videos showing the surgical techniques and nuances. Adjustable techniques to add precision to surgery (recession, plication, and resection) will be exemplified with surgical videos. Restrictive strabismus needs special consideration and will be covered with clinical examples and photos. Strabismus surgery is constantly evolving and newer techniques are constantly being added. A bird’s eye view of what’s new and happening in strabismus surgery. This will be followed by audience interaction and panel discussion
