Abstract
Various longterm, randomized trials have shown efficacy of lowering IOP, either by a percentage of baseline, or to a specified level in Adults. This has lead to the concept of ‘Target” IOP. However, children’s eyes are very different and appropriate “Target IOP” needs evaluation .
The course will introduce the attendee to normal IOP in children, Classification of severity of Congenital glaucoma, Target IOP in children, Achieving the Target, Counselling &Visual rehabilitation. The main aim of our course is to familiarise the practitioner with practical tips on achieving Target IOP in children and how to maintain it. Pediatric glaucoma, if managed well and early can have a tremendous impact on lives of individuals, their families, communities, and socioeconomic status of country. Awareness in community, early detection by general ophthalmologists, and prompt appropriate management by glaucomatologists can address the problem. Procedures discussed would be video assisted if possible.
