Abstract
Cataract surgeons can easily transition to Refractive surgery as they already possess most surgical skills necessary to make the transition to a Cataract & Refractive Surgeon.
This course will walk the attendees through the transition process methodically from the change in mindset needed to be refractive surgeon to the skills and equipment needed in the OPD and the various options for refractive surgery available to a surgeon without investing in any expensive equipment. Incorporating Phakic lenses into the practice and first steps towards Laser refractive surgery will be highlighted.
The course will also aim to enhance the skills of the cataract surgeon in achieving good refractive outcomes in their cataract surgery patients allowing them to truly become Refractive Cataract Surgeons. This will include talks on perfecting biometry, IOL formulas, astigmatism management, choosing the right IOL and managing surprises.
Attendees will be well initiated to transition to refractive surgery.
