Abstract
Progressive refinements in retinal surgery have resulted in favorable predictable outcomes, encouraging surgeons to push the limits & attempt surgery in cases that would earlier have been left untreated. This course will present the panel’s approach to handling extreme retinal pathologies to achieve the best possible outcomes. The course features management of recurrent retinal detachments with severe PVR, principles of retinectomy, advanced proliferative diabetic retinopathy, severe trauma, fulminant endophthalmitis & pediatric retinal surgeries. The objective of the course is to present such principles & customized algorithms for management of these complex surgical pathologies which attendees can incorporate into their practice. Each presentation will be followed by structured discussion between audience & speakers.
At conclusion of the course, attendees would be better equipped to tackle challenging retinal surgical pathologies to achieve better anatomical & functional outcomes.
