Abstract
OSDI questionnaire was filled preoperatively and postoperatively at 1st and 2nd follow up in 100 patients undergoing LASIK surgery. Patients were divided into no, mild, moderate and severe dry eye symptoms based on OSDI score. RESULTS- Mean OSDI Score preoperatively was 9.13 ± 8.1 which increased to 13.5 ± 10.1 on 1st follow up and 16.0 ± 9.7 on 2nd follow up. Patients having no dry eye symptoms decreases from 73 % preoperatively to 58% at 1st follow up and 45% at 2nd follow up. Patients having mild dry eye symptoms increases from 22% preoperatively to 29% at 1st follow up and 37% at 2nd follow up. Patients having moderate dry eye symptoms were 3% at preoperatively, 5% 1st follow up and 10% at 2nd follow up. Patients with severe dry eye symptoms increased from 2% preoperatively to 8% at 1st and at 2nd follow up. OSDI score increased significantly after LASIK surgery (P=0.004).Conclusion- There was significant increases in dry eye symptoms postoperatively after LASIK surgery.
