Abstract
Aim: Interpreting optic disc &retinal nerve fibre layer(RNFL)parameters in children with abnormal cupping for whom normative data do not exist
Methods:Prospective observational study in children aged 6-17 years who presented to glaucoma clinic for increased cup-disc ratio &they underwent ophthalmic examination &OCT RNFL imaging
Results:78 eyes of 39 children with mean age of 13.4 were studied. Mean RNFL thickness of right eye(RE)of males was 90.8 & females 91.5; of left eye(LE) of males was 91.04 and females 87.73.Mean RNFL thickness of both eyes in different age groups did not show statistical difference(RE p=0.44 & LE p=0.10).The subjects were divided into ISNT rule followed(n=21)& ISNT rule not followed(n=18).None of optic disc parameters compared among the 2 groups were statistically significant
Conclusion:Though there was no significant difference in mean RNFL thickness depending on age and gender in children with abnormal cupping; mean quadrantic RNFL thickness followed ISNT rule
