Abstract
Prospective, Case Series
Retinal Vasculitis predominantly affects the younger patients and has tremendous health burden in terms of visual morbidity years. Macular affliction of retinal
Materials and Methods: Consecutive cases of retinal vasculitis meeting criteria for pulse immunosuppressive therapy were grouped into intravenous cyclophosphamide with oral prednisolone and intravenous methylprednisolone followed by oral prednisolone. Both functional and anatomical remission was studied.
Result: 8 patients, over an observation period of 18 months, of retinal vasculitis affecting the macula required pulse immunosuppression. Intravenous cyclophosphamide group fared better than intravenous methylprednisolone group in terms of visual acuity, macular ischemia and adverse effects of steroids.
Conclusion: Pulse intravenous cyclophosphamide is indicated in cases of retinal vasculitis affecting the macula.
