Abstract
PURPOSE:To describe a case of seborrheic keratosis of eyelid mimicking as basal cell carcinoma(BCC).MATERIALS&METHODS:75 year male had painless right lower lid(RLL) mass for 1.5years gradually, progressively increasing in size with history of(H/O) occasional bleed on scratching. H/O weight loss present.General physical & systemic examination: Normal. Ocular findings:15x20x10mm black lobulated, firm, well defined mass on RLL laterally without ulceration/inflammation, attached by a stalk to the skin. Ectropion with loss of lashes in the region of mass &small vessels seen within mass. Other findings normal. Incisional biopsy(Bx): seborrheic keratosis. Later excision done in toto(profuse bleeding seen) leaving 12 x 7mm defect till anterior lamella which was repaired by graft from upper lid. RESULTS: Excisional Bx confirmed seborrheic keratosis. CONCLUSION : Seborrheic keratosis might be mistaken for BCC, thus it is critical to rule out malignancy before planning an appropriate management.
