Abstract
To study the efficacy of Phacoemulsification on mature Cataract in 200 eyes. Monocentric hospital based study. 200 eyes with white Mature Cataract were selected . Exclusion criteria – nil systemic diseases, any Pseudoexfoliation subluxation in these mature Cataract & Phacodonesis . Pre-Op work up done. Operative steps: Temporal –Superior Clear Corneal Incision, Methylene Blue Injection- under air, Capsulorhexis, Phacochop, Foldable IOL into Capsular bag, Residual Visco removed, self-sealing Incision. Intraop complications – 3 PCR, 1 ZD, 2 run away rhexis which were managed appropriately. Post op complication – 4 moderate iritis managed with steroid eye drops. Late complaication- 3 PCO managed by YAG Capsulotomy & 3 ARMD.The patients were followed up for 3 years.In this series 124 eyes(63%) eyes regained a vision of 6/6,70 eye -6/9,3 eyes – 6/12, 3 eyes – 6/24.The surgical skill of the eye surgeon and meticulous planning is important to give excellent results.
