Abstract
Purpose:Application of Total Keratometry for regular use in IOL calculation.
Methods:155 eyes undergoing uneventful cataract surgery were prospectively evaluated using IOLmaster700.Emmetropic IOL power was calculated using K and TK formulae.Absolute prediction error of spherical equivalent, predicted by 2 Barrett formulae, was calculated based on TK and K at 1month FU.
Results: APE measured by both formulae showed significant correlation.Mean APE in SE was higher for TK compared to K. Proportion of eyes within +-0.25D of target refraction was higher in K group, while that within +-0.50 and +-1.00D was higher in TK group.Bland-Altman plot analysis and box-plot of differences showed that APE values were higher for TK in mid-range of corresponding Barrett K APE values.Higher K values and higher APE in SE in mid-range of keratometry with TK was seen.
Conclusions:Both conventional K and TK may be comparable for IOL calculation, however TK may give rise to higher APE in SE postoperatively.
