Abstract
AIM OF THE STUDY-To study clinical feature,visual outcome management & complications following trauma with tennis /cricket ball.
METHODS-Prospective case study done between january 2018 to december 2019 included 76 eyes of 76 cases with ball injury while playing or by different modes of injury by ball.Presenting vision,age,gender, time since injury,detailed ophthalmological examination were done.patients were managed medically or surgically.Followup at 1,3,6 months.
RESULTS-74 cases were male 80.2% were<30 yr.Median presenting VA & final VA were6/60 &6/18 respectively.Subconj hemorrhage[26.3%]sphincter tear[23.6%],RD[18.4%],angle recession choroidal rupture[17.1]/berlins edema[15.7%].Most of the cases 69.7% were managed medically,30.2%cases needed surgical intervention.Final visual outcome in our study was depended on initial VA c/f type of treatment CONCLUSION -Tennis or cricket ball related injury generally has poor prognosis with closed globe injury.
