Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Modern cataract surgery = refractive surgery = aim for emmetropia = zero tolerance to astigmatism.
AIM: To compare the visual outcomes and rotational stability in patients who have undergone phacoemulsification followed by implantation of EyecrylToric IOLvsTecnisToric IOL.
METHODS: Retrospective study which included patients with regular astigmatism who underwent phacoemulification-50 eyes with EyecrylToric IOL and 50 eyes withTecnisToric IOL.
RESULTS: At the end of 3 months- BCVA with Tecnis- 0.02+/-0.04, with Eyecryltoric- 0.04+/-0.06. Rotational stability was comparable-6.06±5.68 in the TecnisToric group and 4.6±3.29in the EyecrylToric group.
CONCLUSION: EyecrlylToric IOL is comparable to the TecnisToric IOL in terms of post op UDVA, CDVA, residual astigmatism, degree of rotation, and were equally effective for the correction of pre-existing corneal astigmatism.EyecrylToric is a good alternative, reasonable and comparatively less expensive.
