Abstract
AIM: To compare ocular biometry of PACD.
METHODS: Prospective study. patients who diagnosed to have PACD were included. Ocular biometry was obtained by A-scan ultrasonography. Parameters recorded: anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), axial length (AXL), lens/axial length factor (LAF) and relative lens position (RLP).
RESULTS: PACG had significantly shallower ACD (P<0.01) compared to PAC and PACS. PACS and PACG had similar LT and LAF(p>0.5). No difference in axial length (p=0.71). Lens were positioned more anteriorly in PACG. RLP decreased significantly from PACS to PACG (p<0.04). CONCLUSION Biometric parameters of PAC were in midway between PACS and PACG. Shallow ACD, anterior situated lens may pose risk factor for developing acute angle closure. Also in PAC in addition to increased LT, shallower ACD and more anteriorly placed lens may suggest risk of developing PACG. A scan ultrasonography might identify the patients who are at risk of converting to PACG.
