Abstract
Materials and Methods: 60 eyes with surgical aphakia fulfilling the inclusion criteria were considered. Pre and Post-operative evaluation – vision, slit lamp, fundus, IOP, endothelial cell count, macular edema was done. Retropupillary iris claw lens was implanted primarily or secondarily. IOL stability was evaluated. SPSS software and 0.05 level of significance was considered.
Results: Major cause of aphakia was posterior capsular rupture (55%). Post-op BCVA on day 60 was 6/6 – 6/18 in 83.33% cases. 3 patients had disenclavation of the haptic which required retucking. No patient had corneal decompensation, cystoid macular edema or IOP rise.
Conclusion: Retropupillary technique of iris claw implantation is a safe and effective method for visual rehabilitation in aphakia.
