Abstract
Method: This was a retrospective analysis of records of patients presenting with unilateral DME between Jan 2019 to May 2020. Choroidal thickness T0 was measured manually at presentation in both affected and normal eyes and T1 was measured one month after intervention using SS-OCT.
Results: Study included 28 eyes of unilateral DME with each patient being their own control. Mean CT in the affected eye was significantly thicker at baseline in the presence of exudation when compared to unaffected eye (T0- 362.214 vs T1 268.429 P value 0.0001). There was no significant variation in CT in the fellow eye.
Conclusion: There was a statistically significant increase in CT in the affected eye at the time of exudation. This shows the involvement of choroid in DME which needs to be further studied and can be used as an indicator in monitoring DME patients
