Abstract
Aim:To study effect of PXF on RNFL thickness in PXS patients(without Glaucoma).
Methods: Prospective study of 108 subjects. Patients were enrolled in 2 groups, A-PXF patients and B-Non PXF patients(54 eyes each). Detailed anterior examination was done. Fundoscopy was done to assess the optic disc and macula. IOP, gonioscopy and pachymetry, HFA 24-2,Macular threshold and OCT was done for all patients.Patients were followed up at 6th and 12th month.
Results: The mean age in group A was 67.26±9.465 years, in B group was 67.28±9.48 years. M;F was 3:2. Average RNFL group A was 94.15±12.798(µm) and in B group was 100.39±11.506(µm)on first visit. Similar trend was seen on 1 and 2 follow up.Statistically significant thinning in RNFL was found in PXF group in all the RNFL quadrants and average RNFL except Nasal quadrant. .
Conclusion:PXS without glaucoma may be associated with a thinner RNFL as compared with age-matched normal. Structural damage can occurs much before the functional loss.
