Abstract
Methods: A 67-year-old female, K/C/O hypertension was referred to higher center for LE pain & mass at surgical site post small incision cataract surgery elsewhere. Patient had an uneventful LE Small Incision Cataract Surgery with IOL few hours back under local anaesthesia. LE examination revealed a peanut sized dark coloured mass protruding from the surgical site incision with hazy anterior chamber details. The B-scan ultra-sonography, blood pressure and coagulation profile were within normal limits. LE Wound exploration & mass excision with histopathological examination was advised.
Results: Scleral & conjunctival wound was secured with suture. Histopathology showed large areas of haemorrhage and vascular congestion.
Conclusion: Postoperative large surgical site haematoma is an unusual presentation & warrants timely investigations and management.
