Abstract
Background: To study near and distance stereoacuity in patients with Glaucoma and to analyse the correlation between stereoacuity and severity of glaucoma.
Methods: Study participants were classified based on Mean deviation (MD) and Visual Field Index (VFI) on Humphrey Visual Field 30-2 into mild, moderate and severe. Stereoacuity was measured using Randot charts for both near and distance. Correlation between stereoacuity and severity of glaucoma was assessed.
Results: Study included 320 eyes of 160 patients with Glaucoma presenting to the Eye OPD. Statistical analysis showed a significant reduction in Near SA (p = 0.00006) as well as distance SA (p = 0.00157) across the grades of glaucoma.
Conclusions: Stereoacuity for both near and distance show significant worsening with increasing severity of glaucoma. Therefore, this study furthers the purpose of establishing the utility of stereoacuity as a quick and relatively easy tool for early diagnosis of glaucoma.
