Abstract
Choroidal melanoma is a primary intraocular tumor which is generally asymptomatic and is found incidentally on routine ocular examination. It rarely occurs in Asians. A 66 years female presented with chronic headache, diminution of vision associated with floaters and flashes in OS for 7 months. The OS BCVA was no PL. On clinical evaluation neovascularization of iris was evident. Fundus showed a brownish-black pigmented, homogenous, dome shaped mass originating from the nasal retina and extending into the vitreous cavity. USG B-scan showed typical collar stud appearance of tumor with vascularity on doppler. MRI findings suggested of uveal melanoma. Systemic metastasis was not evident. OS enucleation with PMMA implant was performed. HPE showed features suggestive of malignant uveal-mixed cell melanoma. It is imperative to timely diagnose this clinical entity with high index of suspicion for salvaging visual and structural function in addition to averting life threatening complications.
