Purpose : To describe the clinical profile of severe vaso-occlusive retinal disorders in patients with SLE Methods: Retrospective case series of SLE patients presenting with aretio-venous occlussions Results : BRAO was present in 3 eyes with combined NICRVO in one patient and evolving ischemic CRVO in another patient. One patient had additional branch retinal artery insufficiency in the other eye. ANA titer was elevated in all, one patient had positive lupus anticoagulant with raised aPTT and hyperhomocystienemia in another. Ranibizumab injection was used in two eyes. IVMP along with Azathioprine was used in all patients with need for anti-coagulation in two patients along with treatment of SLE. Vision did not improve in 2 eyes to functional level despite aggressive therapy. Conclusion : Visually blinding severe vaso-occlusive retinopathy in the form of BRAO with or without CRVO can manifest in patient with SLE.
