Abstract
PURPOSE -To study the role of P63 in diagnosing metastatic adenocarcinoma
MATERIALS AND METHOD- 68 year female came to us with complaints of ulcerative mass in right lower eyelid since 6 months which was painless and gradually progressing. Excision biopsy was performed with 4 mm margin. Histopathology report was suggestive of Adenocarcinoma sweat gland . We did immunohistochemistry for P63 to differentiate it with metastatic or primary tumour of lid . P63 report came as negative, subsequently to know the primary tumour, high resolution CT scan chest was done which showed mass in left hilum and contrast enhanced CT scan abdomen was done which showed mass arising from tail of pancreas.
RESULT-Pancreatic mass was the primary tumour which was metastasize to hilum and eyelid.
CONCLUSION- P 63 has a role in differentiating primary and metastatic adenocarcinoma of eyelid. In case of adenocarcinoma lid we have to check for P63 gene to differentiate between primary and metastatic tumour.
