Abstract
Aim : To compare subjective refraction and Keratometry values in Paediatric patients. Design: Observational Analytical Cross sectional Study. Methods: 180 eyes of 90 patients attending the Paediatric outpatient department and fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were studied. Results:. A strong correlation ( r= +0.951) (p<0.001) was found between the cylinder and the axis measured by Subjective refraction and the Corneal Curvature Front and between the cylinder and its axis measured by the Subjective Refraction and the Net corneal power (r = +0.998) (p<0.001) and also between the cylinder and axis identified by cycloplegic retinoscopy and subjective refraction (r = +1) (p<0.001). Conclusion : We conclude that Manifest Astigmatism in children between 10-15 years of age is corneal in origin and is not contributed to by the lenticular component.
