Abstract
There are various retinal imaging biomarkers for diabetic macular edema. These are central subfield thickness, cube average thickness, hyperreflective foci, disorganization of inner retinal layers, disruption of external limiting membrane and ellipsoid zone and epiretinal membrane. The aim of the study was to determine role of these OCT biomarkers in relation with the visual acuity, as they are helpful in early diagnosis, explains prognosis and in follow up after treatment. This is the prospective and observational study constituting 32 patients. Images was analysed using macular cube 512*128 and 5 line raster scan. Eyes with any media opacities or any pathology affecting retina other than diabetes was excluded. It is concluded that eyes which have more horizontal DRIL length, large number of hyperreflective spots, more disruption of ellipsoid zone and external limiting membrane and presence of epiretinal membrane has the worse visual acuity irrespective of central subfield thickness.
