Abstract
Method:
Case 1 :A 46 year old male presented with acute onset of redness, foreign body sensation in LE. Both eye vision 6/6 with normal fundus.On examination:Conjunctival chemosis with coiled live worm in subconjunctival space at temporal bulbar conjunctiva of LE
Case 2:A 43 year old female with same symptoms in her LE. On examination:a coiled live worm in subconjunctival space at temporal bulbar conjunctiva of LE
Result :In both cases, the live worm was surgically removed under local anaesthesia
Case 1: The extracted worm -12cm long, thin, cylindrical, milky white color
Case2: 10cm long, thin, cylindrical &milky white
It was transported in 10% formaldehyde &sent to parasitology lab
The worm was identified as Dirofilariasis repens
Conclusion:Dirofilarial infections due to Dirofilariasis repens appear to be increasing in India as well as throughout world, suggesting the need for high suspicion, prompt diagnosis & management
