Abstract
Purpose: To study stereoacuity changes after small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE).
Methods: A prospective interventional study was conducted at tertiary care hospital. 30 patients (60 eyes) who had undergone SMILE for myopic correction were evaluated for stereoacuity changes at near using TNO at 40 cm. These tests were done pre operatively with best spectacle correction and post operatively unaided at one week, one month and three months.
Results: Mean age of patients were 23.64 ± 2.27 yrs. Pre-operative mean stereoacuity was 212.64± 178.54 and post-operative mean stereoacuity at 03 months was 71.47±38.33. Mean refractive error spherical equivalent in right eye was 3.73±1.43D and in left eye was 3.66± 1.36D. Mean post-operative BCVA at 3 months was 20/20.
Conclusion : SMILE causes improvement in stereoacuity .
