Abstract
SYNOPSIS A middle aged male presented with history of dog bite over his left eyebrow. The wound was washed with normal saline and rabies immunoglobulin was infiltrated all around the wound. On examination the wound was irregular approximately measuring 5cm * 3cm with a healthy granulation tissue cover. The wound had tissue loss and loss of middle portion of the left eyebrow.
After 48 hours of immunoglobulin wound repair with eyebrow reconstruction was done. The eyebrow was reconstructed using an island flap laterally and an advancement flap medially to get the hair bearing skin to a more central position. The island flap had a pedicle below attached to the base to maintain blood supply.
The wound healed well with proper growth of the eyebrow.
CONCLUSION- Reconstructing a wound with tissue loss and damage to the eyebrows is challenging. The wound may be small but proper and meticulous use of flaps or free skin grafts are often necessary to achieve good anatomical and cosmetic outcome.
