Abstract
*Purpose of this study was to evaluate visual & refractive outcomes after implantation of trifocal intraocular lens in highly myopic patients.
*In this retrospective study 10 patients were included with previous phacoemulsification & implantation of trifocal IOL with IOL power between 8D & 10D.
*Postoperative outcomes at 12 weeks including uncorrected distance (UDVA), intermediate (UIVA) & near visual acuity (UNVA), corrected distance visual acuity, spherical equivalent & refractive astigmatism were analysed.
*16 eyes (8 patients) in the highly myopic group (IOL power 10.0D) & 16 eyes in age matched control group.
3 months post operatively the mean UDVA, UIVA & UNVA in highly myopic groups were 0.06 log of minimum angle resolution.
*Implantation of the trifocal IOL in highly myopic eyes provided satisfactory visual & refractive outcomes.
Trifocal IOLs provide good visual & refractive outcomes at various distances & hence reduce spectacle dependence after cataract surgery or RLE.
