Abstract
AIM-To compare Tear film parameters in Post-menopausal women and Pre-menopausal women
METHODS-A prospective hospital based comparative randomized study of 105 patients (51 premenopausal and 54 postmenopausal) attending tertiary care center without any systemic co-morbidities were taken. Fluorescent strip to assess Tear film breakup time, Schirmer’s strip test to assess Adequate tear production.
RESULT-Dry eye disease were seen more in postmenopausal women compared to premenopausal women. Most have mild to moderate symptoms of dry eye in the age group of >55 yrs.
CONCLUSION-Dry eye manifestations in postmenopausal women is more than premenopausal women. No significant relation of dry eye with duration of menopause. Therefore,proper dry eye evaluation should be carried out on regular basis in post-menopausal women.
