Abstract
205 patients with unilateral and 103 patients with bilateral CNLDO were recruited . Among the eyes with CNLDO, hypermetropia was the most common refractive error. Among unilateral CNLDO, affected and unaffected eyes showed statistically significant difference in terms of sphere, cylinder and spherical equivalent (p <0.05). The prevalence of anisometropia was more in patients with unilateral CNLDO (11.2 %) when compared with bilateral CNLDO (1.9%). 3.9% of the unilateral cases and 3.88% of the bilateral cases exhibited amblyogenic risk factors.Among the 12 patients with amblyogenic risk factors, 33.3% had simple myopic astigmatism, 25% had simple hyperopia, 16.6% had compound hyperopic astigmatism and simple hyperopic astigmatism each and 8.3% had compound myopic astigmatism. Our study suggested that unilateral CNLDO is associated with a higher prevalence of anisometropia compared to bilateral CNLDO.The prevalence of amblyogenic risk factors is also higher in unilateral CNLDO .
