Abstract
Basal cell carcinoma of upper eyelid is very rare to cite in literature. HISTORY & EXAMINATION- A 75yr old female, resident of high altitude and a field worker previously presented with gradually enlarging ulcer on left upper eyelid for last 5yrs of size (7*5)cm which also involved the eyebrows. Lesion was irregular with raised beaded edges & marked induration. It was Nodulo-ulcerative type. DIAGNOSIS- HPE confirmed the diagnosis. No evidence of local invasion or distant metastasis was present. TREATMENT- Considering the age of the patient, size of the tumour & patients unwillingness to undergo surgery, we opted for radiation therapy. She was subjected to external beam radiotherapy with a total dose of 50 Gray over a 4 week period. It was well tolerated by patient & significant improvement was seen after 2months. FOLLOW-UP- Patient is now on regular follow-up because of the risk of recurrence.
