Abstract
A 70 year old male presented with a painless gradual increasing swelling in left lower lid of a phthisical eye since 6 months with a past history of a swelling at the same site and operated 3 years back. On examination there was a pedunculated, multiple lobulated, fixed globular swelling of 3cm by 5cm size, arising from the left lower lid margin with a significant mechanical ectropion of grade 3. Patient was clinically diagnosed as meibomian gland carcinoma and underwent excision of the mass with suturing of skin and the mass was sent for HPE study. On HPE it was diagnosed as rhinosporidiosis. This was a case of ocular rhinosporidiosis with subcutaneous spread mimicking as meibomian gland carcinoma as there was recurrent lobulated, fixed swellings originating at the same site with multiple lid elevation. It is important to do an HPE of all lesion which would help in correct diagnosis and management.
