Abstract
To assess the refractive outcomes following simultaneous phacoemulsification and pterygium excision with conjunctival limbal autograft with fibrin glue. Results of 11 eyes of 11 patients who underwent simultaneous phacoemulsification with foldable IOL with pterygium excision with conjunctival autograft with fibrin glue were reviewed retrospectively.Postoperative follow up was 6 months. Mean BCVA (Log MAR) significantly improved from 0.67 +/-0.28 to 0.02+/-0.06 postoperatively (p <0.05).Mean post-operative astigmatism significantly reduced from -1.85 +/- 1.04D to -0.61+/-0.32D (p <0.05).Mean Keratometry readings marginally increased from 44.03 +/- 1.43D preoperatively to 44.36 +/-1.36D postoperatively. At 6 months, 85.71% and 14.28% of the eyes were within ± 0.5 and ± 1.0D,respectively, of the targeted correction. Mean post-operative myopic spherical error was -0. 23+/-0.27D. Simultaneous pterygium and cataract surgery was safe and effective, and the accuracy was moderately predictable.
