Abstract
Case Report- 31 year old man presented with headache, blurring of vision, diplopia; 4-5 days. Anterior segment OU-Normal. Fundus OU- Disc margin elevated and blurred, multiple variable size globular raised reddish lesion more in the periphery with dilated feeder vessel and tortuous draining vein characterstic of Retinal Hemangioblastoma(RHB)
MRI brain and spinal cord shows spino-cerebellar hemangioblastoma with obstructive hydrocephalus. USG abdomen- multiple renal cyst and calculi. These features were suggestive of VHL syndrome. Patient planned for retinal argon laser coagulation with cryotherapy and was referred to neurology for further Neurological management.
Discussion- VHL is an inherited, life-long disease. Macular edema with lipid deposition is usually an early complication of RHB. Prompt diagnosis and ablative treatment with laser and cryotherapy appears to be effective in controlling VHL disease progression in the retina and gives favourable visual prognosis.
