Abstract
Purpose:To study the clinico-pathological characteristics, treatment outcome of giant OSSN.Methods:Retrospective, observational study of 36patients treated for giant OSSN(involving ≥6limbal clock hours).Clinical pattern and response of surgical excision with AMT graft/IFNα2β were assessed. Results:Out of 102patients;36 eyes(36cases)had giant OSSN.Mean age was 65±12years.Mean duration of symptoms was 8.25months.Right eye was involved in 58.33%.Cornea was involved in 61.11% cases.58.33%patients had>12LImbal clock hours ,25.0% had 10 clock hours and rest16.67% patients had 8 clock hours involvement.Mean tumor hight was 3.10±1.08mm.In 22.22%cases OSSN was invasive type.Overall, complete regression after topical plus intralesional IFNα2β was seen in 52.78%cases during mean follow-up of 12.5±2.6months.Recurrence was seen in19.44%cases.Exenteration was done in 4 eye.Conclusion:IFNα2β is effective modality for giant OSSN,it reduces recurrence rate. Thus it should be considered as primary therapy.
