Abstract
It is observed that Atropine (0.01%) as eye drops can check the progression of myopia. 116 children between the age of 6 to 12 yrs (Mean 9.5 yrs) were included in this study. Their refractive error, height, body weight & AP length were recorded on first visit and on every follow up visits at 4 months. Atropine 0.01% drops was advised to put every night & to continue using their glasses. Mean refractive error was -5.50 DSE. (Range -1.75 to -10.50 DSE). BCVA was from 6/12 to 6/6. Mean follow up was 10.5 months (Range 9.5 to 16.5 months). Mean height increased to 5.83 cm (from 121.03 cm to 126.86 cm). Mean body weight gain was 3.23 kg. (from 23.56 kg. to 26.79 kg.). Mean AP length increased to 0.52 mm (from 23.69 mm to 24.21 mm) & Mean change in K Readings Flat was 0.41D (from 43.35D to 43.76D) & Steep was 0.78D (from 45.01D to 45.79D), but there was no change in initial refraction of -5.50 DSE (from -2.00 DSE to -11.50 DSE) & BCVA was maintained at pre-level.
