Abstract
Purpose: The study analysed the changes of macular thickness (MT), optic nerve head (ONH) changes and RNFL measured by SD-OCT in moderate and high myopia following uneventful cataract surgery. Methods: Thirty eyes of 30 patients with myopia and 30 eyes of age-related cataract (ARC) who underwent phacoemulsification from January-December 2019 at tertiary care hospital were included in the study. OCT and IOP was measured in all cases preoperative,1st day , 1 month after surgery and data analysed. Results: Two groups showed significant difference in foveal thickness (p=0.02) and average retinal thickness before surgery. For GCIPL and RNFL thickness, the changes on average did not exceed 0.9 μm, and retinal thickness in the macular area – 2.1 μm one month after surgery in myopia group. Conclusion: Patients with high and moderate myopia, retinal parameters, RNFL, and ONH measured by OCT changed insignificantly after one month postsurgery.
