Abstract
PURPOSE: To assess the factors affecting vision post Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK).
METHOD: Prospective interventional study of 27 patients with non-resolving corneal edema(>3 months) who underwent DSAEK. Various factors including Scheimpflug imaging were used to measure the graft thickness, aberrations and corneal densitometry. Correlation with visual gain was done.
RESULT: Mean duration of corneal edema and preoperative corneal thickness were 8.04± 4.41 months and 729.7 ± 106.52µm, respectively.Mean pre-operative BCVA was 1.67 which improved to 0.2 logMAR with mean MRSE of 0.34 ± 1.4 D. Mean central graft thickness was 105.5 ± 36.4 µm, mean anterior HOA and LOA were 1.65 ± 1.03 and 4.31 ± 2.36 RMS, respectively. Mean posterior corneal densitometry was 12.82 ± 2.48 GSU.
CONCLUSION: Anterior HOA’s, LOA’S, preoperative graft thickness and posterior corneal densitometry had an inverse correlation with BCVA. No other factor was found to be significant.
