Abstract
A 42 years old male presented with sudden onset pain and diminution of vision both eyes (BE) for 1 day following entry of lime. Vision in right eye (RE) was 6/12 and in left eye (LE) HM+. On slit -lamp examination, in RE conjunctiva was congested and in LE, lime particles were embedded in conjunctiva with chemosis, conjunctival ischemia, limbal ischemia from 4 to 8 o’clock position; corneal edema with epithelial defect and pupil was sluggishly reacting to light. IOP (GAT) in BE was 14.6mmHg. Ocular surface burn was of Grade-I in RE and Grade-III in LE (Dua’s classification). Management included removal of lime particles in LE, followed by continuous wash with 1 litre of normal saline, topical antibiotic, cycloplegic, lubricant, steroid and twice daily sweeping for BE. Also a BCL was applied prophylactically in LE and amniotic membrane grafting was done in LE after 3 weeks. Patient showed improvement with BCVA of 6/6 in RE and 6/9 in LE at 3 months follow up.
