Abstract
AIM To study the efficacy and safety of chemical corneal tattooing for unsightly corneal scar. METHOD A prospective clinical study of 10 consecutive cases in the age range from 30-55yrs was conducted. After complete ophthalmic examination and B scan corneal tattooing was performed using tattoo gun . Patients were followed up at first day, third day and fifth post operative day, then weekly for a month, 3rd month and 6th month. RESULTS All patients had mild discomfort in first few days but no afterwards. No patients reported with corneal melts or erosions , upto 6 months after surgery all patients had satisfactory staining of the formerly cosmetically disfiguring corneal scar. CONCLUSIONS Keratopigmentation has achieved good cosmetic and symptomatic result and is associated with high patient statisfaction. Corneal tattooing is very safe , easy and cost effective method to achieve a good cosmetic result.
